I am interested in the mechanisms that dictates how animals function and seek to explain why and how some animals can survive under conditions where other species succumb to environmental stress. To unravel the various physiological processes that confer the ability to thrive in extreme environments or that allow for animals to perform extreme behaviours, we combine laboratory experiments at various levels of biological organisation with field studies where heart rate, blood flows, body temperature and other key physiological parameters are measured in animals under natural condition while exhibiting spontaneous behaviours.
